Grow succulents from leaves!
Grow succulents from leaves! Every time you have a new succulent, pop a few leaves off and grow more plants!
Here are the steps you can follow:
-
Choose a healthy leaf: Look for a healthy leaf from the succulent plant you want to propagate. Make sure it's a full leaf that's not damaged or broken.
-
Remove the leaf: Gently twist the leaf off the stem, making sure to include the entire leaf including the base.
-
Let the leaf callus over: Allow the leaf to dry out and callus over for a few days. This will help prevent the leaf from rotting when you plant it.
-
Plant the leaf: Once the leaf has callused over, plant it in a well-draining soil mix. You can bury the base of the leaf in the soil mix or lay the leaf on top of the soil.
-
Water the leaf: Give the leaf a light watering. Don't overwater it or the leaf may rot. Allow the soil to dry out completely before watering again.
-
Wait for new growth: In a few weeks, you should start to see new growth emerging from the base of the leaf. This new growth will eventually develop into a new succulent plant!
-
Care for the new plant: Once the new plant has grown a few inches tall, you can transplant it into its own pot with well-draining soil. Continue to water it lightly and provide plenty of bright, indirect sunlight.
